The difference between hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose

The difference between hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose

Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC)

Application Introduction:
1, construction industry: as water and sediment slurry water retention agent, retarder to make the mortar with pumping sex.Use mortar, gypsum, putty powder or other building materials as adhesives to improve daubability and prolong operation time.Use as paste ceramic tile, marble, plastic adornment, paste reinforces agent, still can reduce cement dosage.HPMC water retention properties make slurry in the smear will not dry too fast and crack, enhance the strength after hardening.
2, ceramic manufacturing industry: widely used as an adhesive in the manufacturing of ceramic products.
3, coating industry: in the coating industry as a thickening agent, dispersant and stabilizer, in water or organic solvents have good compatibility.As a paint stripper.
4, ink printing: in the ink industry as a thickener, dispersant and stabilizer, in water or organic solvents have good compatibility.
5, plastic: forming demoulding agent, softener, lubricant, etc.
6, PVC: PVC production as a dispersant, suspension polymerization preparation of PVC main additives.
7. Others: This product is also widely used in leather, paper products, fruit and vegetable preservation and textile industry
Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC)
Hydroxyethyl cellulose, as a non-ionic surfactant, has the following properties in addition to thickening, suspension, adhesion, floatation, film formation, dispersion, water retention and providing protective colloid functions:
1, HEC can be dissolved in hot water or cold water, high temperature or boiling does not precipitate, so that it has a wide range of solubility and viscosity characteristics, and non-thermal gel;
2, its non-ionic type can coexist with a wide range of other water-soluble polymers, surfactants, salts, is a high concentration of electrolyte solution of an excellent colloid thickener;
3, water retention capacity is twice higher than methyl cellulose, with good flow regulation,
4. Compared with the recognized methyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, the dispersion ability of HEC is the worst, but the protective colloid ability is the strongest.
Uses: generally used as thickening agent, protective agent, adhesive, stabilizer and additives in preparation of emulsions, gels, ointments, lotions, eye cleansers, suppositories and tablets, also used as hydrophilic gels, skeleton materials, preparation of skeleton type sustained-release preparations, can also be used as food stabilizers.
